Supporting natural healing & change from within

About Craniosacral Therapy

Relaxing Massage Therapy_edited_edited.jpg

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) has its origins in osteopathy, and works with the subtle rhythms of the craniosacral system - this includes the cranial bones, membranes, and cerebrospinal fluid, which support and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Through light, informed touch, Craniosacral Therapy supports the body's natural ability to self-correct. It promotes deep relaxation, nervous system balance, and supports subtle shifts within the fascia, tissues and fluids of the body. Working at physical, emotional and energetic levels, it orients to the innate health within, gently meets underlying patterns and restrictions held within the body-mind, and invites reorganisation and release to unfold from within.

As this work engages with all systems of the body, outcomes can be wide reaching. Commonly, the treatment process results in a natural shift toward greater regulation, coherence and ease - supporting integration across physical structure, function, and the whole person.

Suitable for all ages, this approach is deeply restorative, and particularly supportive during times of change, stress or recovery. Sessions invite complete rest and offer space for the body's natural capacity to adapt and rebalance, with change unfolding at a pace that feels right for you.

People come to the clinic with a wide range of conditions, and requests for support, including:

  • Chronic pain (including headaches, neck, and back pain)

  • Stress, anxiety and nervous system overwhelm

  • Fatigue, burnout, and low energy

  • Insomnia and sleep challenges

Seniors

Angelene has a special interest in working with women and babies through pregnancy, birth and postnatal stages.  Also with seniors, those in the later stages of life, including palliative care clients, and their carers.

What happens during a treatment?

Sessions take place fully clothed, lying comfortably on a treatment table.

Once the client is comfortably settled, the therapist will place their hands lightly upon the client's feet, spine, shoulders, head or other regions - using a very light, attentive touch to attune to the craniosacral rhythm. This rhythm is the subtle expansion and contraction caused by fluctuations in cerebrospinal fluid and tissue motion. The therapist tunes into, and palpates, these natural rhythms, helping the body release tension and restrictions at a deep, physiological level. Small children may prefer to play on the floor or read with a parent or the practitioner during their treatment.

The experience is usually deeply calming and clients may experience an increased internal awareness or feelings of temperature change, flow, tingling, release, expansion and deep relaxation. As the process is very subtle it is also normal for the client to feel very little during the session. This is okay.  Changes can be taking place at deep level, with shifts often still occurring for several days post-treatment. BCST recognises the interconnectedness of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of every individual. Each session is customised to suit the individual needs of the client.
